LC Men's Soccer prevails 1-0 over Emory & Henry in Double OT

EMORY, VA – Sophomore midfielder Jon Mackey scored the game-winner in double overtime Saturday evening to lift the Lynchburg College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Emory and Henry College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) regular-season finale for both teams.

The Wasps and LC played superb defense throughout the game. Hornet goalkeeper Cory Budka once again had another strong performance in net with six saves and Wasp goalkeeper Didier Grillet tailed seven stops. LC was able to put up 23 shots to Emory & Henry's 15.

After 10 minutes of scoreless play in the first overtime, the Hornets were able to strike during the 101st minute of the second overtime when Mackey dribbled out a deflection on the right-side of the box for the game-winning strike.

LC improves to 10-3-4 and 6-2-3 in the ODAC) and Emory & Henry ends its season 4-10-3 (2-7-2 ODAC). The Hornets enter the 2015 ODAC Championship Tournament as the #4 seed, and will host #5 Virginia Wesleyan College Tuesday on Shellenberger Field. Washington & Lee has earned the top spot and will host the semifinals and finals in Lexington, VA next weekend if the Generals win their first-round matchup.
