LYNCHBURG, VA – The top-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated Salisbury University 2-0 Friday night in the 2015 Shellenberger Classic.
Sophomore Hannah Olds deflected a cross from senior Jade Woll 19 minutes into the game to give LC a 1-0 edge. Lynchburg controlled the remainder of the half, but couldn't post another goal in the first 45 minutes.
Camille Bartley eluded a pair of Sea Gull defenders and sent a crossing pass to Morgan Singer for the game's second goal at the 52:55 mark. The action was even the rest of the way, with each team having scoring opportunities.
LC out-shot Salisbury 10-4 but SU held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Sea Gull net-minder Hope Knussman made two saves, while Tess Frelick made one stop for LC.
