#4 Lynchburg Women's Soccer Defeats Meredith 5-1
LYNCHBURG, VA – The fourth-ranked Lynchburg College women's soccer team had five different goal scorers Thursday night against visiting Meredith College (NC) in a 5-1 Hornet non-conference victory.
The contest was scoreless for the first 30 minutes before Morgan Singer found Camille Bartley behind the Meredith defense for the game's first goal. Nicole Kopsidas scored at the 41:09 mark of the first half, also from Singer, and the Hornets took the 2-0 lead into intermission.
Lynchburg scored twice early in the second half, one each from Jade Woll and Hannah Olds. Meredith's Ellice Johnson made the score 4-1 with a tally off a free kick, and LC's Kennedy Jakubek ended the scoring with 21 minutes left to play. Singer, Olds and Woll each had an assist on the three second-half goals.
Lynchburg out-shot the Avenging Angels (4-4) 21-7, while Meredith had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. MC keeper Jaisa Loch made eight saves while Hornet Tess Frelick made four stops.
The Hornets (8-1) travel to Emory University (GA) for another non-conference game Sunday at 1 p.m.
