Box Score Roanoke, Va. -- With two goals from senior Hannah Olds, the Hornets defeated the Eagles of Emory University, 4-0 at the Roanoke College Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Lynchburg Women's Soccer team continued their scoring streak, putting up four goals for the second straight game and putting their season total at nine goals.
Sophomore Caitlin Mertens was able to find Olds at the 14:30 mark in the first half to open the scoring and put Lynchburg up 1-0. Just three minutes later Sarah Hammock launched a shot that soared over the goalkeepers head and into the roof of the net, giving the Hornets a quick two goal advantage.
Freshman Alyssa Rudy continued her own hot streak with another goal seven minutes before half, putting her with 2 goals and an assist in the past two games. Hannah Olds finished off the Eagles wih her second goal on the day, extending the hornets lead to 4-0.
The backline for the Hornets continues to look impermeable as senior goalkeeper Tess Frelick once again was never really called into action as she finished with three saves while sophomore Delia LoSapio got some playing time in a second striaght game and recorded a save.
The women return to action tomorrow, Sept. 11 when they face off against Berry College at 2:30 pm to finish up the Roanoke College Tournament and return to Shellenberger Field next Friday, Sept. 16 as Southern Virginia traverses the Blue Ridge mountains to face the Hornets.
