Jakubek's goals lead women's soccer past Catholic

Washington, D.C. -- Lynchburg College's women's soccer team ran its regular-season non-conference win streak to 13 matches on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 road victory over the Catholic University of America.

Kennedy Jakubek (Leesburg, Va.) scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead the way for the Hornets.

Final: Lynchburg 2, Catholic 1

Records: Lynchburg 9-1, Catholic 6-5

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Jakubek put the Hornets up early on, scoring after a run down the left side of the field in the seventh minute.

- The junior added her fourth goal of the season in the 33rd minute, another unassisted score.

- Catholic halved the deficit in the 40th minute when Meghan Corso found the back of the Lynchburg net.

- Hornets keeper Delia LoSapio (Raleigh, N.C.) thwarted the Cardinals' hopes of tying the match. The junior recorded six saves, three in each half.

 

LOOKING AHEAD

Lynchburg returns to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Thursday, when the Hornets will play host to crosstown rival Randolph College. The Women of Worth Game will begin at 7 p.m.
