St. Mary's, Md. -- Kennedy Jakubek (Leesburg, Va.) notched a goal and an assist, and Caitlin Mertens (Succasunna, N.J.) scored her third game-winning goal of the season as Lynchburg College's women's soccer team came from behind to win on the road for the second time in four days.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- St. Mary's took an early lead when Jenna Pastel fired an arcing shot across the box into the top right corner of the goal in the eighth minute.

- Jakubek broke away past the defense in the 17th minute and tied the match with her second score of the year. Neither team scored again in the first half.

- The Seahawks reassumed the lead in the 52nd minute when Alex Moody booted a rebound into the nylon, but the lead didn't last long. Nine minutes later, the St. Mary's defense couldn't corral Emily Sanchez's (Orangeburg, N.Y.) corner kick, instead heading it in for an own goal.

- Mertens gave LC its first lead of the match in the 68th minute when she one-touched Jakubek's crossing pass into the goal.

- The Hornets are unbeaten through six matches for the fourth-straight season. Tuesday's was Lynchburg's second come-from-behind win in a row, as the Hornets ditched a deficit to beat Salem in overtime Saturday.

LOOKING AHEAD

Lynchburg begins conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., when they will play host to Virginia Wesleyan University.
