Box Score Lynchburg Va.-- Lynchburg College's volleyball team had strong comeback after losing the first two sets to defeat Virginia Wesleyan 22-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-13 in Friday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup.
The Hornets collected 61 kills and had 97 digs. Sophomore Sydney Frink (Chester, Va.) had a career-high 14 kills and four digs. Lauren Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va.) dominated the back row with 30 digs, also setting a career high.
LC also got 13 kills from outside hitter Mesa Willis (Dabneys, Va.); eight kills, one dig, and five blocks from midddle Amanda Wrightson (Toms River, NJ); and 32 assists from senior Lynn Walsh (Columbia, Md.).

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the first set, Virginia Wesleyan went on a eight-point run until Natalie Lavelle (Wilmington, Del.) ended the run with a hard kill. The Hornets faught hard to come from behind, but lost the first set 25-22.

Hornets took the lead early in the second match and held on as long as possible, but the Marlins came back to tie it, 14-14, and went on to win, 25-22.

Lynchburg led the thrid set early again and after mulitple back-and-forth swings, the Hornets held the lead and won, 25-20.

The Hornets dominated the fourth, 25-16..

VWU came out hard with Lynchburg trailing behind, 4-0. The Hornets worked hard to come back, and after a kill by Frink, assisted by Lynn Walsh, the score shifted 7-6, giving LC the lead until the end defeating the Marlins, 15-13.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Hornets return to Turner Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m., where they'll play host to Hollins.
