Box Score Winchester, Va. -- A first-half offensive explosion pushed Lynchburg College's women's soccer team to a 3-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory on the road Saturday afternoon at Shenandoah.
No. 23-ranked Lynchburg scored three times in an eight-minute span toward half's end to take control of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Sarah Wescott (Midlothian, Va.) put Lynchburg ahead with her first-career goal in the 36th minute.
- Just three minutes later, Katie Waring (Chester, Va.) deflected a Caitlin Mertens (Succasunna, N.J.) touch into the goal to double the Hornets' lead.
- The visiting Hornets took a 3-0 lead in the 44th minute when Brooke Kowalski (Wayne, N.J.) scored the first goal of her season, punching home a rebound.
- Shenandoah broke up the shutout in the 74th minute when Sara Fuller scored.
