Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Junior forward Sarah Hammock (Virginia Beach, Va.) took a feed from Georgie Duggan (Stafford, Va.) and chipped the ball over the charging Salisbury goalkeeper in the 60th minute, propelling Lynchburg College's women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the Sea Gulls on the opening night of the Shellenberger Classic Friday.
Hammock's second goal of the season was all the Lynchburg defense needed in its home opener. The Sea Gulls managed just one shot-on-goal in the match.
Roanoke College and Wheaton (Ill.) battled to a 1-1 draw in the night's opening match on Shellenberger Field.
