Virginia Beach, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team erased a two-goal deficit late in regulation Tuesday evening to force a 2-2 draw with Virginia Wesleyan in a key Old Dominion Athletic Conference match.

Junior forward Alyssa Rudy (Greencastle, Pa.) and senior forward Hannah Olds (Wilmington, N.C.) scored in the final three minutes to tie the match.

Neither team was able to net the game-winner in overtime.

Fifteenth-ranked Lynchburg held a 19-15 advantage in shots in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a scoreless first half, the host Marlins scored in the 51st and 54th minutes to open up a 2-0 advantage in the second. Ryan Applewhite and Camryn Terry scored the VWU goals.

• Rudy halved the deficit in the 88th minute when she beat a defender to her right and scored toward the far post, unassisted.

• Lynchburg knotted the score with 19 seconds remaining in regulation when senior midfielder Kennedy Jakubek (Leesburg, Va.) played a perfect corner kick to senior defender Katie Waring (Chester, Va.) on the far post. Waring headed the ball to Olds, who scored.

• The Hornets held a 5-3 advantage in shots in 20 minutes of golden-goal overtime soccer, but neither team was able to net the game-winner.

LOOKING AHEAD

Lynchburg will return home to Shellenberger Field for Saturday's regular-season finale. The Hornets will play host to Ferrum at 7 p.m., and will celebrate Senior Night prior to the match.
