Box Score Bridgewater, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball season came to a close Wednesday night on the road with a 25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19 defeat at Bridgewater in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.
The third-seeded Eagles leapt out to a two-set lead, coming from behind in both, before No. 6-seeded Lynchburg could snag one, and Bridgewater ended the match in four.
Junior outside Sydney Frink (Chester, Va.) put down a team-high 12 kills to go with nine digs for the Hornets, and freshman right side Emma Drake (Newsoms, Va.) added eight kills and two blocks.
Junior libero Lauren Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va.) snagged 25 digs and two aces, and junior setter Erin Farina (Crozet, Va.) helped the offense click with 17 assists and four digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lynchburg opened the match with an 8-4 run, but Bridgewater snapped out of it with a 6-0 run of its own and took eight of the last 12 points to secure the first set.

The Hornets also leapt ahead early in the second, using a six-point serving run by Stanford to take a 13-7 advantage and waste both the Eagles' timeouts. Bridgewater fought back to tie the set at 22, however, and scored three of the final four points to take control of the match.

Frink led the Hornets back in the third, collecting five kills as Lynchburg cruised to a set victory.

The two teams traded the lead often in the fourth until the Eagles used a 10-2 run midway through to pull away.
LOOKING BACK
Lynchburg finishes the season with a 13-15 record and a 7-5 mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Hornets found a rhythm late in the season, winning their last four ODAC matches to make a run in the standings. Lynchburg will look ahead to the release of the all-conference teams on Saturday, Nov. 3.
