Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team faced a tough matchup in its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest of the season against Bridgewater, falling to the Eagles in straight sets, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12.
The Hornets collected a total 26 kills with six kills added by junior Sydney Frink (Chester, Va.) and another five kills each added by junior Lindsey Lang (Poquoson, Va.) and freshman Emma Drake (Newsoms, Va.). Junior Lauren Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va) held down the back line with 17 digs and junior setter Erin Farina (Crozet, Va.) gained 19 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The beginning was a power struggle with several different lead changes in the first set. Lynchburg fought hard, but the Eagles were able to take the lead and secure the first set 25-20.

Bridgewater took control in the second, going on a 5-0 with Taylor McNeely behind the service line. Bridgewater won 25-15.

Lynchburg slowed down in the third set giving Bridgewater the final win 25-12.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week, the Hornets will be back home again to face Greensboro, Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium.
