Box Score Ferrum, Va.-- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team shut out Ferrum College on the road Tuesday night, for their fourth win in a row.
Sophomore Amanda Wigboldy scored two goals to lead the Hornets (8-3-1, 4-1 ODAC) to a 3-0 victory over the Panthers (7-5-1, 3-3-0 ODAC).
Lynchburg came out strong early in the match and senior Emily Sanchez found the back of the net with her third goal of the season off an assist from fellow senior Natalya Rodriguez to put the Hornets up 1-0. Lynchburg did not let up a shot in the first half and took the lead into the break.
After the half, Wigboldy connected for a goal in the 53rd minute on an assist from fellow sophomore Emily Santana and then in the 76th minute Wigboldy scored her second goal of the match off an assist from junior Dana Seavey. The sophomore's goals were her fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Hornets' last four matches.
Senior Caitlin Dorsch recorded one save on the night and her fourth shutout of the season.
The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team will be back in action at home on Wednesday, Oct. 16 with another ODAC match as the Hornets take on the Vixens of Sweet Briar College at 4 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
