Box Score Lynchburg, Va.-- The Lynchburg women's soccer team defeated Sweet Briar 9-0 at home Wednesday afternoon for its fifth win in a row and third shutout in the last four games.
The Hornets (9-3-1, 5-1 ODAC) set a season high with 54 shots on the afternoon with nine of them finding the back of the Vixens' net. Sophomore Amanda Wigboldy came away with a hat trick on the afternoon and freshman Megan Dee scored her second and third goals of the season.
Lynchburg took 34 shots in the first half and went into the break with a 3-0 lead after two goals from Wigboldy and a goal from sophomore Emily Santana. It was Santana's first goal of the season.
The Hornets continued their barrage of shots in the second half as they added 20 more with six of them finding the back of the net. Wigboldy scored her third of the game off an assist from freshman Lindsey Grady, who assisted both a goal from Dee and fellow freshman Averey Wyscarver. Freshman Alyssa Damato added a goal and an assist of her own as Lynchburg cruised past the Vixens.
The Vixens did not get off a shot on the afternoon and fell to 0-11-1 on the season.
The Lynchburg women's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 19 with another Old Dominion Athletic Conference match for Homecoming as the Hornets will take on the Maroons of Roanoke College at 5 p.m.
