Women's soccer clinches postseason spot with win at Guilford

Box Score

Greensboro, N.C. -- Taylor Smith and Amanda Wigboldy each scored goals to lead University of Lynchburg's women's soccer team to a 2-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory Wednesday at Guilford.

The Hornets (10-6-1, 5-4 ODAC) overcame an early deficit to do so, as Taylor Rumrill put Guilford (6-9-2, 2-6-1) on the board in the 16th minute.

Smith evened the match in the 30th minute with an unassisted score -- her first goal of the season -- and the match would remain 1-1 until late in the second half.

At the 81-minute mark, Wigboldy scored, unassisted, to put Lynchburg ahead for good.

The victory clinched the Hornets a postseason berth in the upcoming ODAC tournament. Lynchburg will first set its sights on Saturday, however, and the 1 p.m. regular-season finale with Virginia Wesleyan. Senior Day festivities will take place for the Hornets' 12 seniors prior to the match.
