Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team continued Old Dominion Athletic Conference play with a 5-1 rout of Randolph Wednesday afternoon at home.
Senior Emily Sanchez and sophomore Amanda Wigboldy led the Hornets (6-3-1, 2-1 ODAC), as they both scored twice for Lynchburg with senior Natalya Rodriguez adding a goal of her own.
Rodriguez got the Hornets' scoring off to a good start after she connected on her first goal of the 2019 season off an assist from sophomore Emily Santana. Later in the first half, Wigboldy connected on her fourth goal of the season to put the Hornets up 2-0 going into the break.
Lynchburg wasted no time in the second half as Sanchez scored in the 52nd minute off an assist from fellow senior Georgie Duggan to extend the Lynchburg lead to three goals. Less than two minutes later, Wigboldy connected for an unassisted goal, her second of the game, and fifth of the season to extend the Lynchburg lead to 4-0. At the 56th minute Sanchez also connected for her second goal of the game and put the Hornets up 5-0.
The WildCats (4-4-2, 0-3-0 ODAC) got on the board in the 57th minute off a Hannah Bane goal on a free kick to make the score 5-1.
The Hornets outshot the WildCats 29-4 on the afternoon with 20 shots on frame.
Lynchburg will travel to Harrisonburg for another Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup as they take on the Royals of Eastern Mennonite at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
