Box Score Ashland, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team fell to No. 14-ranked Randolph-Macon, 4-1, Wednesday afternoon in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.
The Hornets and the Yellow Jackets played a scoreless first half. In the 57th minute, top-seeded RM-C (19-0) pressured their way past the Lynchburg defense and drew a foul in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Casey Kent took the shot for the Yellow Jackets and put it past a diving Caitlin Dorsch to break the scoreless tie and put R-MC up 1-0.
Lynchburg (11-8-1) quickly answered 1 minute later as senior Emily Sanchez found the back of the net, collecting a loose ball just outside the 18-yard line and finishing an unassisted goal to knot the match, 1-1.
The Yellow Jackets rebounded with three unanswered goals to come away with the win.
Wednesday's loss snapped a streak of 12 straight Lynchburg appearances in an ODAC semifinal match dating back to the 2007 season.
The Lynchburg women's soccer team finished its season with a final record of 11-8-1 and will await the announcement of postseason awards, starting with the All-ODAC teams next week.
