Box Score Washington, D.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team lost a heartbreaking 1-0 match to the Catholic University Cardinals Saturday afternoon at Carlini Field.
Both teams played an even match in the first half in which neither team could find the back on the net.
The Cardinals (6-1-1) broke through late in the second half as an 86th minute shot from Catholic's Darius Slahpoosh found its way in between the posts for a goal.
The Hornets (3-3-1) were outshot 8-2 in the second half and 14-6 in total.
Junior goalkeeper Kyle Gallagher made nine saves on the Cardinals' 10 shots on goal.
The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team will be back in action with an ODAC matchup Wednesday, Sept. 25 as they take on Washington and Lee University at home on Shellenberger Field.
