Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Nick Morgan scored the game's lone goal as University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team bested Maryville, 1-0, Saturday evening to earn Hornets head coach Chris Yeager his 200th career victory and the first of the 2019 season.
Morgan corralled Ayat Mohamed's pass in the box and finished in the 28th minute to put the Hornets ahead for good.
Lynchburg (1-1) had opportunities to add on as they out-shot the Scots (0-1), 10-6, but MC keeper Mykal Manfred controlled the box well to keep his team in the hunt.
Hornets keeper Kyle Gallagher and the Lynchburg defense held fast as well, cementing the junior's first-career shutout in the net.
Morgan recorded two shots on the day, while Lynchburg junior Abibi Osman launched a game-high three shots.
The Hornets are back in action on Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field Sunday, a 4:30 p.m. bout with NCCCA member Regent.
