Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Freshman Kenny Robles scored a hat trick as University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team pummeled NCCCA member Regent, 10-0, Sunday on Shellenberger Field.
Robles scored in the 18th, 30th, and 49th minutes -- Lynchburg's fourth, fifth, and sixth goals of the match -- to accomplish the 17th recorded hat trick in Hornet men's soccer history. It was the first trifecta for Lynchburg in almost exactly a year, as Abibi Osman accomplished the feat Sept. 7, 2018 in a win over Dickinson.
Osman scored Lynchburg's first two goals Sunday, a sixth-minute strike that Jack Ashby assisted and another just 72 seconds later that Luke Mega's assist made possible.
Mega notched the Hornets' third goal -- also in the seventh minute -- and Robles scored twice before halftime to send Lynchburg into the break with a 5-0 lead.
Seth Dale scored two of Lynchburg's five second-half goals, accompanied by Robles, Michael Thompson, and Rachade Kondo to finish off the rout.
The Hornet defense allowed just two shots in the match.
Lynchburg is back in action Wednesday, Sept. 11 at home against Mary Washington at 7 p.m.
