Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Kenny Robles and Brennan Lagana each scored a second-half goal to lead University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Guilford Wednesday night on Shellenberger Field.
After a scoreless first half, Robles quickly put the Hornets on the board in the 48th minute, finishing low from the right side of the box on a Manzi Shalita assist.
The Hornets continued to create chances in the second half and eventually broke through again, this time when Luke Mega drove from the left and crossed the ball to a waiting Lagana, who converted the insurance goal.
Lynchburg out-shot the Quakers by a 19-1 margin, and the defense played solid all evening as Kyle Gallagher registered his first solo shutout of the season in goal.
The Hornets extended their home unbeaten streak to eight matches with the victory and are winners of 12 straight against Guilford, a streak dating back to the 2011 campaign.
Lynchburg (8-4-1, 4-1 ODAC) is scheduled to continue its homestand Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. against Shenandoah as the University celebrates Homecoming 2021.
