Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer got back to their winning ways on Saturday during a 2-0 victory over Roanoke on homecoming.
The 22nd-ranked Hornets traded scoring opportunities with the Maroons in the opening ten minutes. Maddy Myers' shot was saved at the 2:27 mark and Jade Lecklider saved a shot 6:53 later.
In the 21st minute, Taylor Smith served a pass up the field to Averey Wyscarver. The junior forward's first shot after Smith's pass was saved. However, Wyscarver fought for her own rebound and buried the second-chance opportunity.
Wyscarver's third goal of the season was Lynchburg's 21st opening-half goal of the season.
Taylor Smith tallied her second assist of the match and 11th point of the season in the 30th minute. Smith, taking one of Lynchburg's five corners, crossed the ball to the near post and Meghan Lauder buried it with a header.
Lecklider made four saves in the first half as the Hornets carried a 2-0 lead into the break.
Lynchburg outshot Roanoke 15-4 in the second half, coasting to a 2-0 victory.
The Hornets will visit Harrisonburg, Va. for a matchup with Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
