Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team ran its win streak to three Tuesday evening with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of crosstown rival Randolph College.
Princess Salifou led the Hornets' offense with nine kills, while Jordan Bartemeyer chipped in 20 digs, and Mya Green turned in 29 assists and 10 digs for her third consecutive double-double.
The Hornets started slow, falling behind 10-7 in the first set before kicking it into gear. Lynchburg took the lead, 11-10, on Green's serving run, but Randolph responded with a run of its own 17-14 lead. Annie Tynes ripped off a 5-0 scoring run to retake the lead and cruised to a first-set win.
Lynchburg carried the momentum through to the sweep, winning the second and third sets easily.
Emma Drake added seven kills and two blocks for Lynchburg, and Abbi Leeper and Khoury May tallied six kills each. Leeper collected 10 digs, while Annie Tynes totaled 11.
Lynchburg improved to 10-10 overall and 6-4 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Hornets' win was their fifth against their crosstown rivals in their past six tries.
The Hornets will take the weekend off before returning to action Tuesday, Oct. 26 at home against Christopher Newport in a break from conference play.
