Harrisonburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg won their second-consecutive match Wednesday night with a 1-0 decision against Eastern Mennonite.

The 25th-ranked Hornets outshot EMU 9-0 in the first half with eight of their shots coming in the opening 20 minutes. Taylor Smith and Averey Wyscarver both rattled off shots in the 18th minute while Maddy Myers took three shots in the early going as well. 

On the other side of the field, Jade Lecklider did not face a shot as the Hornets took a scoreless draw into the break. 

Sydney Dombrovskis subbed into the match in the 29th minute, but started to make an impact after halftime. She took two shots in the 46th minute, but was off target on both of them. 

The freshman from Ruckersville, Va. continued to shoot and found the back of the net at the 63:32 mark. Smith initiated the scoring chance by dribbling the ball up field and finding Myers along the far sideline. Myers crossed the ball and found a streaking Dombrovskis who blasted the pass into the top netting. 

Dombrovskis earned her third goal of the season and her score ended up being her second game winner as the Hornets held on for a 1-0 win. 

Lecklider earned her fifth shutout and fourth in the last five matches. The Hornets are outscoring their opponents 9-2 in October. 

Lynchburg takes on Bridgewater next on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. Women's soccer will celebrate eight seniors and the contest will also be a CODE RED match.
