Box Score Newport News. Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer fell 5-1 to Christopher Newport in the regular season finale.
The Hornets found themselves down early after a penalty kick in the eight minute. The Captains added two more scores before the half.
Lynchburg took six shots out of the break before conceding another goal in the 70th minute.
Down 4-0, Maddy Myers put Lynchburg on the board 3:37 later. Chritopher Newport's goalie tried to clear the ball but it landed right at the junior midfielder's feet and she volleyed it home. Myers' third goal of the season ensured the Hornets would not be shut out once on the road this season. Lynchburg scored 34 goals in away and neutral matches.
The Captains added one more score before things were all said and done, topping Lynchburg 5-1.
Lynchburg (13-4, 8-2 ODAC) earned the third seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. The Hornets will face Guilford on Shellenberger Field with kickoff set for Tuesday, Nov. 2. Stay tuned to LynchburgSports.com for updates on gametime.
