Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's soccer team won its third match in a row Sunday afternoon as the Hornets defeated Guilford College, 3-0, behind two goals from sophomore Lindsey Grady.
The Hornets (3-0, 2-0 ODAC) began its match with the Quakers like they did their first two matches, taking early shots and creating opportunities to score. Lynchburg took five shots in the first 25 minutes of action, but it was on the Hornets' sixth shot in the 26th minute that sophomore Alyssa Damato found the back of the Guilford net off an assist from junior Taylor Smith to put Lynchburg up 1-0.
Three minutes later, sophomore Madison Myers connected with Grady, who put it between the uprights for her first-career goal to give the Hornets a 2-0 advantage. Then in the 34th minute, Grady scored again on Smith's second assist of the match to give Lynchburg a 3-0 lead to put the game out of reach.
Lynchburg out-shot its opponent for the third consecutive game, taking 24 total shots against the Guilford defense. The Hornet defense held the Quakers (0-2, 0-2) to only one shot on the afternoon.
Lynchburg women's soccer will be back on the pitch on March 7 when the Hornets travel to Bridgewater to take on the Eagles in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
