Winchester, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team took a comfortable lead with a pair of first-half goals and added another in the second to come away with a 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win at Shenandoah Thursday night.

Lynchburg got the scoring started in the 37th minute when sophomore Carter Averette took a pass back from freshman Said Osman and put a dart into the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 44th tick, when junior Joey Daly delivered a ball into the box that floated the defense and fell at the feet of freshman Josh Auger, who tapped the ball past the keeper.

The Hornets took that lead into halftime and added to it in the 60th minute when Daly broke away from the defense down the left side of the field and sent a cross into the box that senior Ben Mackey finished mid-stride with one touch.

The Lynchburg defense did the rest, holding its hosts without a shot-on-goal in the second half as the Hornets posted their fourth shutout of the season.

Lynchburg (4-1-1, 4-0-1 ODAC) will return home for the weekend, where the Hornets will play host to ODAC rival Hampden-Sydney on Shellenberger Field Sunday at 5 p.m.
