Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- Abbi Leeper notched a double-double, Khoury May made 33 assists, and University of Lynchburg's volleyball team earned a 25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 25-18 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over crosstown rival Randolph Thursday evening on the road.
Randolph jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the first set, but Lynchburg rallied to tie the set at 12 and closed out a close opener thanks to the third of Emma Drake's 14 kills in the match.
The hosts took the second set, 25-20, before Lynchburg took control of the match by holding the WildCats off in the third. Ahead 20-16, Randolph rallied to knot the score at 21-21 in the third. With the set tied at 24, Drake delivered an ace, and freshman Paige O'Donnell put down the winner to get Lynchburg within a set of the match.
In the fourth, Leeper collected six kills as the Hornets took a commanding 18-13 lead. A 5-0 Lynchburg run gave the Hornets a 23-15 advantage, and sophomore Josey Walton and freshman Princess Salifou each notched kills to clinch the match.
Leeper totaled 20 kills to go with 17 digs and hit a scalding .311 in the match, while junior libero Flinn Christian collected a match-high 27 digs. Drake added eight digs and three blocks to her 14 kills, and Salifou and freshman middle Alexis Horner each had eight kills.
The Hornets (4-2, 3-0 ODAC) will continue league play Saturday with a tri-match at Ferrum College. Lynchburg will take on the host Panthers at noon before playing Virginia Wesleyan in a neutral-site match at 2 p.m.
