Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's soccer team fell to Washington and Lee University, 3-1, at home Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets (5-2, 4-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) fell behind early after the Generals found their way past the Lynchburg defense when W&L's Lindasy White found the back of the Lynchburg net off an assist from Erin Hoeh in the 12th minute. The Lynchburg defense held strong to finish the half and sent the match to intermission with W&L leading 1-0.
Out of the half, the Generals (7-0, 6-0) doubled the lead with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute and then in the 60th minute Cameron Grainger scored the W&L's third goal off a free kick.
The Hornets got on the board in the 79th minute as Lynchburg's Alyssa Damato snuck one past the Generals' goalkeeper, finishing a through-ball from Taylor Smith. The sophomore's goal was the only one of the contest for the Hornets.
Damato and Smith each had two shots as the Hornets were out-shot 12-6 on the afternoon. Lynchburg goalkeeper Laura Mason had six saves in nine attempts.
Lynchburg women's soccer will be back on the pitch on Saturday, April 3 as the Hornets travel to Salem to take on Roanoke College in another ODAC match. Start time is set for noon.
