Box Score Buena Vista, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team fell in three sets Wednesday afternoon on the road at Southern Virginia, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14, in non-conference action.
The Hornets had trouble finding the opposite side of the floor in the match, hitting just .054 as a team and were unable to take advantage of 10 Knights service errors. It was Lynchburg's first straight-set defeat since the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference quarterfinals at Guilford.
Lynchburg (5-4) jumped out to an 8-7 lead in the opening set before SVU uncorked a 9-3 run to take control of the set. The Knights cruised to victories in the final two sets.
Junior libero Flinn Christian led Lynchburg with 18 digs and an ace, while junior setter Khoury May had 25 assists and five digs. Sophomore outside Abbi Leeper had a team-high eight kills to go with nine digs for the Hornets.
SVU (6-1) got 12 kills from Kaely Rath.
The Knights avenged their only loss of the season, when Lynchburg topped SVU in five sets at home March 3.
Lynchburg's volleyball team will take the weekend off before returning to ODAC play at home versus Randolph-Macon next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
