Box Score 2 Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team dominated Wayne Proffitt Court Saturday afternoon with straight-set victories over Emory & Henry and Shenandoah in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference tri-match.
The Hornets offense hit a scalding .337 as a team through the two matches.
Junior Emma Drake led that attack, collecting 27 kills while also adding five blocks and a pair of service aces. Sophomore Abbi Leeper chipped in 19 kills and 10 digs, and Taylor Breeden totaled 28 assists and 11 digs for the Hornets.
Lynchburg (8-4, 7-1 ODAC) started hot, jumping out on a 10-4 run and cruising to a 25-15 win in the first set against E&H. The Hornets added 25-19 and 25-22 set victories to polish off their second sweep of the season. Drake had a team-best 13 kills, and libero Flinn Christian added 17 digs and five assists.
The Hornets again fired on all cylinders in the nightcap win over Shenandoah, cruising to a 25-9, 25-22, 25-18 victory. Drake totaled 14 kills and Leeper added 12 kills in the match, while Annie Tynes had five aces, and Breeden tallied 21 assists, six digs, two aces, and two kills.
Lynchburg celebrated Senior Day prior to the final match of the tri, recognizing the Class of 2021: defensive specialist Sarah Connolly, student assistant Katie Cornelius, and middle blocker Natalie Lavelle.
The Hornets will look to make it four straight ODAC wins Thursday with a 7 p.m. road match at Bridgewater.
