Box Score Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Roanoke College Saturday afternoon on the road in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup.
The Hornets (5-3, 4-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) fell behind early as Roanoke's Ellie Schad found the back of the Lynchburg net in the 27th minute to put the Maroons up 1-0. Despite Lynchburg matching Roanoke's shots with seven, the Hornets failed to score in the first half.
In the second half, the Maroons (6-3-1, 5-1) doubled their lead with a goal in the 53rd minute to go ahead 2-0. Hornets' junior Amanda Wigboldy took three shots in the final three minutes of action but none found the back of the Roanoke net and Lynchburg fell in its final regular season match.
The Hornets took six more shots than the Maroons as Lynchburg outshot Roanoke 18-12 on the afternoon, but none made it through the uprights. Wigboldy totaled six of the Hornets' 18 shots on the afternoon.
Lynchburg women's soccer will look towards the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament with the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, April 6. The bracket is yet to be released by the conference office.
