Box Score Ferrum, Va. -- Khoury May registered 10 kills; Abbi Leeper added eight kills, six digs, and four aces; and University of Lynchburg's volleyball team cruised to a 25-20, 25-20, 25-10 sweep of Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Ferrum on the road Wednesday evening.
The Hornets hit .250 as a team -- their second-most efficient performance of the season -- and racked up seven aces on the night.
Lynchburg controlled the early going, starting the match on a 4-0 run, but the host Panthers quickly rallied to take a 7-6 lead in the opening period. The Hornets regrouped to win eight of the final nine points of the set to lead after a set.
Ferrum came out swinging in the second, jolting to a 17-9 advantage, but the Hornets again responded. Bolstered by a couple aces from Alexis Horner and a pair of Princess Salifou kills, Lynchburg finished the set on a 16-4 run to take a commanding lead in the match.
The third was all Lynchburg. May put down four kills as the Hornets iced the match for their second sweep of the season.
Setter Taylor Breeden dished out 20 assists on the night, and Emma Drake added six kills to the Hornets' cause. Princess Salifou and Josey Walton totaled two blocks apiece.
Lynchburg (4-6, 2-1 ODAC) will return home Saturday to continue conference play with a tri-match against Eastern Mennonite and Roanoke. The Hornets will play those teams at noon and 4 p.m., respectively, with the neutral-site match scheduled for in between.
