Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer used eight goal scorers to get past Sweet Briar 9-0, Tuesday afternoon.
The Hornets took the pitch at Shellenberger Field for the first time this season with a 5-1 record, carrying a five-match winning streak. Alix Allen scored her first-collegiate goal 2:23 into the game. Just over a minute later, Taylor Smith played a corner into the box and Amanda Wigboldy redirected it to Maddy Myers for Lynchburg's second goal.
Wigboldy, the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week, added a goal to go along with her assist, scoring at the 9:10 mark.
Lynchburg scored four more times in the first half. Lindsey Grady scored her first goal of the season and Savannah Harper and Victoria Newman both netted their first-career goals. Ella Tampio-Iorns rounded out Lynchburg's dynamite half with her third goal of the season.
The Hornets extended their lead twice more after halftime. Harper grabbed a second goal and Sydney Dombrovskis scored off an Ida Swisher assist. Lynchburg has outscored opponents 25-2 since Sept. 5. The Hornets took 39 shots, their most since ripping off 45 shots against Emory & Henry on Feb. 21, 2021.
Sweet Briar has not scored a goal against Lynchburg in two decades with the Hornets outscoring them 140-0 in the last 19 meetings. Jade Lecklider started in goal while Meredith Bowers, Laura Mason, and Kate Duncan teamed up to shutout the Vixen.
