Box Score Winchester, Va. -- Princess Salifou had 12 kills and seven blocks, Kailey Keough added eight kills and 12 digs, and University of Lynchburg's volleyball team wrapped up a postseason berth with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of Shenandoah on the road Friday evening.
Salifou hit .476 for the match and helped the Hornets off to a hot start with four of her kills in a blowout of a first set. Mya Green chipped in 28 assists, nine digs, and two blocks for Lynchburg, and Cassi Blackmore and Morgan Clarke led the back row with 15 and 13 digs, respectively.
Lynchburg ran away with the first set and looked in control of the second until a 4-0 SU run tied the score at 19-19 and forced Lynchburg to take a timeout. Out of the break, the visiting Hornets ripped off a 6-0 run capped by back-to-back kills from Salifou and Abbi Leeper (seven kills) to take a commanding two-set lead.
After falling behind 6-3 early in the third, Lynchburg rallied for a 10-0 run behind outstanding service from Jaina Leek (nine digs, two aces) to take control. Salifou put the match away with a clinching solo block, the junior's seventh of the night to match her career-high.
Green's 28 assists gave the sophomore 792 on the season, moving her into 10th on the program's single-season leaderboard.
The victory clinched Lynchburg (14-11, 6-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) a spot in the upcoming ODAC tournament, but first the Hornets will close out the regular season Saturday morning at 11 at Eastern Mennonite. The winner of the match will carry the No. 6 seed into the conference postseason, while the loser will be seventh.
