Coming on the heels of a narrow 1-0 defeat to top-ranked Christopher Newport Tuesday night, the Hornets wasted no time getting on the board at Amherst County High School. Junior Ida Swisher scored the first goal in the second minute of play. Swisher also scored the first goal of the season for Lynchburg.
The Hornets scored five more times before the break. Joly scored twice while McKenna Dahm and Lindsey Grady scored their first goals of the season. Alyssa Damato also found the back of the net before halftime on an assist from Savannah Harper.
Abbie Little grabbed her second goal of the season 15 minutes out of halftime, and Joly completed her hat trick nine minutes later. Joly is the first Hornet to put up three goals in a match this season.
Sydney Dombrovskis, the reigning Old Dominion Athletic Conference player of the week, rounded out the offensive bombarding in the 84th minute thanks to Dee's second assist. Dombrovskis and Joly are tied for the team lead with four goals this year, and Dee leads the way with three assists.

The Hornets (5-2-4, 3-0 ODAC) suit up for their third match of the week on Friday, Oct. 7 at Ferrum. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
