Bridgewater, Va. -- Despite 13 kills from Abbi Leeper and 40 assists by Mya Green, University of Lynchburg's volleyball team fell in four sets, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, on the road at Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Bridgewater Wednesday evening.

Princess Salifou added 10 kills for the Hornets, while Cassi Blackmore chipped in 14 digs and three aces.

BC took an early lead in the first set with a 10-4 run. Lynchburg battled back to cut it to 18-17 before the Eagles called a timeout and came out of the break with three straight points to take control of the set. Salifou had five of her 10 kills in the opening chapter. The Eagles also leapt out to an early 5-1 advantage in the second and led wire-to-wire for a two-set advantage.

After a back-and-forth start to the third, Leeper put down five kills in that set to help the Hornets string together a victory and keep the match alive.

Bridgewater, however, hit a solid .314 in the fourth to claim the match. Faith DePew's double-double (11 kills, 11 digs) highlighted the Eagles' stat sheet, as did Grace Hayes' 42 assists, 12 digs, and three aces.

The 40-assist effort from Green was the fifth such of the season for the Lynchburg sophomore.

Lynchburg (6-9, 2-4 ODAC) will take a break from conference play Saturday with a pair of home matches against Kenyon and Johnson & Wales (N.C.) as the Hornets look to get back on the winning track.
