Box Score Danville, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team suffered its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference loss of the 2022 season Wednesday night, falling in straight sets, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 to league newcomer Averett.
Mya Green had her ninth double-double of the season with 25 assists and 13 digs, while Cassi Blackmore dug out 25 Cougar attacks in the losing effort.
Battling around Averett's tough block – the Cougars collected seven blocks in the match – Bree Spainhour and Princess Salifou had eight kills apiece for the Hornets. Spainhour chipped in four blocks as well, and Abbey Barlow collected 14 digs.
Lynchburg (5-6, 1-1 ODAC) will look to get back on the winning track Friday night with another conference match, a 7 p.m. tilt at Hollins. Fans planning to attend should be advised that masks are required for all spectators at Hollins' indoor sporting events.
