Box Score Roanoke, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's volleyball team rolled to a 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 sweep of Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Hollins Friday evening on the road.
Abbi Leeper dominated from the pin position throughout the match, putting down 15 kills in just 21 attack attempts for a .667 hitting percentage, and Cassi Blackmore led the defense with 14 digs.
Leeper had six kills in the first set as the Hornets rushed out to a 17-13 lead, but Hollins cut the deficit to 21-20 before Lynchburg recovered. A four-point run capped off by Landon Spotts' first-career service ace gave the Hornets an early lead.
Lynchburg also built a lead in the second set, holding a 17-12 advantage before the green and gold stormed back again. Hollins took a 23-22 lead, but the Hornets finished with a 3-0 run for a two-set lead.
The third set started off Hollins' way, and Lynchburg fell behind 14-10 before recovering to tie the set at 16 apiece. HU pulled ahead again, 22-20, before the Hornets put together another set-clinching run. A Kailey Keough kill kicked off the 5-0 run, and a Hollins attack error ended the sweep.
Princess Salifou had seven kills and two blocks for the Hornets, Keough totaled five kills and eight digs, and Mya Green had 13 assists.
Lynchburg (6-6, 2-1 ODAC) will have a quick turnaround in the search for a third conference win of the season, heading to Lexington Saturday for an 11 a.m. match with Washington and Lee.
