Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team blanked Randolph on the road Wednesday night.
Three-different Hornets found the back of the net beginning with Benjamin Velasquez.
Lynchburg outshot Randolph 8-1 in the first half, but Velasquez's shot seconds before halftime was the first one on target. He beat Randolph's keeper Carter Kelly for his first goal of the season. The sophomore leads the team with five assists.
Randolph also took one shot on target in the first half, but Thomas Viscuso made the save in the 19th minute.
Lynchburg drew four corner kicks in the second half and continued to outshoot the WildCats 9-2 but did not break through in the scoring column again until the last 10 minutes.
Luke Mega recorded his 51st-career goal on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, and Pat Figaro iced the match with a finish in the lower-right side of the goal at the end of the 85th minute.
Viscuso preserved the squad's eighth shutout with a pair of saves in the final half.
Lynchburg (10-1-2, 4-0-1 ODAC) hosts the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.
