Box Score Lookout Mountain, Ga. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team defeated Huntington 3-1 Friday evening.
Playing a neutral court at Covenant College, the Hornets bounced back from a first-set defeat to win 3-1.
Three Hornets put down double-digit kills. Kailey Keough led the way with 11, and Tori Williamson and Ava Meinhardt both notched 10. Meinhardt led the trio with a .258 hitting percentage. Sydney Phillip sled all Hornets that registered multiple kills in hitting percentage with a .286.
Trailing 23-21 in the first set, Lynchburg was able to force six tie scores before eventually falling 30-28.
Lynchburg opened the second set with three-straight points capped by a kill from Williamson. She and Keough had five kills in the 25-20 win.
Lynchburg bounced back from a 16-7 deficit in the third set and won 25-18. Beginning with a kill from Phillips, Lynchburg went on a 18-2 run to flip the script on Huntington and get one set away from a match victory.
Lynchburg led nearly wire-to-wire in the fourth set. Myranda Cummings wrapped up the match with a block solo.
Cassi Blackmore had a season-high 33 digs in the win, and Mya Green led the way with 22 assists. Keough also tallied a double-double with 15 digs.
Lynchburg (11-11, 6-6 ODAC) plays its final-two regular-season matches Saturday, Nov. 4 against Covenant and Oglethorpe.
