Ashland, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team lost in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament to Randolph-Macon Tuesday night.
Kailey Keough led the way with 11 kills, but the Hornets lost in straight sets. It was Keough's 15th match of the season with double-digit kills.
Keough had six of her kills in the first set as the Hornets fell 25-18. The Hornets held an 8-5 lead after three-straight kills from Keough, Bree Spainhour, and Ava Meinhardt. However, the Yellow Jackets tied it up at 11-11 and never looked back in the seven-point win.
The Hornets only had six kills in a 25-9 loss in the second. A 9-0 run early in the set from Randolph-Macon was the downfall of the Hornets as the second-seeded Yellow Jackets dominated their way to a two-set advantage.
The Hornets were the seventh seeded in the tournament after a 6-6 record in the regular season through conference action. It was Lynchburg's eighth season in a row with at least a .500 conference record.
Similar to the first set, Lynchburg led 8-5 in the third set after two kills from Meinhardt and one from Keough. Meinhardt also had three block assists in the match.
The reigning ODAC player of the year Grace Parker had seven kills after Lynchburg went up by three, and the Yellow Jackets closed out the match 25-21.
Cassi Blackmore finished the match with 12 digs. She wrapped up her sophomore campaign with 401 digs.
Running a two-setter offense for the first time in a few seasons, Jaina Leek and Mya Green combined to dish out 21 assists.
