Harrisonburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer junior Meghan Lauder bookended Saturday evening's match with a pair of goals in a 3-1 win over Eastern Mennonite.
Lauder for the second match in a row in the 14th minute.
Despite outshooting the Royals 16-3 in the first half, the Hornets went into halftime tied after EMU got past the Lynchburg defense 1:26 before the break.
Lynchburg battened down the hatches in the second half, not only blanking the Royals on the scoreboard but also preventing a single shot from the opposition.
In the meantime, Ella Tampio-Iorns scored her first of the season to put Lynchburg back in front. Leilianis Irigoyen notched her third-career assist on the play.
Lauder recorded the second, two-goal match of her career in the 60th minute. The Cardinal Gibbons product last scored two goals in 2021 against Arcadia.
Lynchburg (4-3, 1-0 ODAC) hits pause on conference play after its Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener and hosts Mary Washington on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
