Women's Volleyball Weekend Preview

Lynchburg Va. -- Hornets women's volleyball (12-10) is off for two weekend contest, first to face Hollins University (2-19) this Friday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Lynchburg will then travel to Lexington to face Washington and Lee University (19-2) at 11 a.m. 

The Hornets start their weekend off against Hollins University. The last time they met, the Hornets took the match in just three sets. Since, '99 the two teams have played 18 times, the Hornets having never lost to Hollins. Hollins fell to Averett this past Tuesday, 0-3, their 11th consecutive sweep. 

On Saturday, the Hornets will go to Washington and Lee University. In their last meeting, the Hornets took the match 3-2, ending a losing streak against the Generals. Washington and Lee has had a strong start to their season, but they come into this game after losses in their last two matches against Juniata College and Christopher Newport University last weekend. 

The Hornets are coming off a victory against Eastern Mennonite University, where the junior setter Jaina Leek surpassed her 1000th career assist. The Hornets took the match in just three sets, making them 4-3 in the ODAC. 

 After this weekend the Hornets will square up against the Ferrum College Panthers on Wednesday, October 23, at 5pm.
