Harrisonburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team held Shenandoah scoreless en rout to a 1-0 win for the squad's eighth shutout victory of the season on Saturday evening.
The Lynchburg Hornets (9-4-3, 6-0-2) secured a well-earned three points in the ODAC table and currently sit at third place in the conference standings with 20 total ODAC points. Lynchburg has allowed just three goals in ODAC competitions this season, the second-best mark in the conference behind W&L. The Hornets are fourth in the ODAC in goals allowed this season, averaging just under one per game with a rate of .94.
At the 23:19-mark, the Hornets' leading goal scorer, junior
Madelyn Boyce, netted her ninth goal of the season. Her nine individual scores is tied for the sixth-most in the conference in 2024. From then on, Lynchburg held off the Shenandoah attack. Though the home squad had seven shots in the second half, none of the fell and the visiting Hornets extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.
The women's soccer crew closes out its home slate in the regular season when Hollins comes to Shellenberger Field on Wednesday, October 30 at 6 p.m.
