Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg women's volleyball team (15-11) heads to Gilford (12-10) for their final ODAC regular season match this Friday, Nov. 1.
Lynchburg and Gilford currently sit fourth and fifth in the ODAC standings, with the Hornets in front by half a game. With a win, the Hornets can secure the fourth seed in the ODAC tournament and the right to host a quarterfinal game. However, with a loss, Lynchburg can fall to sixth in the standings.
The Hornets enter this contest on a two-game win streak and three-set wins in four of their past five games. In the first 13 games of the season, Lynchburg did not win via sweep once. However, in the past 13, they have won eight contests in this fashion.
The Quakers come into this affair on a roll with a four-game win streak. Gilford has been on a mission since late September, winning nine of their past 11 matches. The Quaker offense is led by their outside hitters, Chrisbel Alcantara and Natalie Moore, accounting for over 40% of the team's overall points.
Following this contest the Hornets will have two non-confrence matchups before the ODAC tournament. Lynchburg will play both Catholic and Marymount next Friday, Nov. 8.
