Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets men's soccer squad returns to Shellenberger this weekend for a showdown with Randolph-Macon (6-2-2) this Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 pm.
This will be the 27th meeting all time between the two schools, Lynchburg holding a 18-6-2 advantage in the series. The Hornets have won the last 10 meetings, dating back to 2016.
So far this season, Lynchburg is unblemished at home, winning all three home contests. As of late, Lynchburg has began to find their stride just as conference play has gotten underway. Lynchburg has secured a win in four of their last five matches and outscored their opponents 8-3 in that stretch.
The Yellow Jackets have started the season on a strong through their first ten games. In their most recent contest, the team collected their first ODAC victory of the season vs. Eastern Mennonite after a tie and a loss to begin their conference schedule. Averaging just under two goals per game, the offense is led by Dylan Matheny. The senior forward has recorded a team-high five goals, placing him at fourth overall in the ODAC and sixth in the ODAC for points.
With both teams currently sitting in the upper half of the conference standings, this match could play a pivotal role down the line.
