Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets volleyball squad took down the Roanoke Maroons in a three set sweep, highlighted with phenomenal offensive play.
In each frame of the night, the Maroons would jump out in front with an early advantage. But every single time, the Hornets were able to respond, and did so loudly.
Kailey Keough and
Tori Williamson lead the way offensively for Lynchburg. Williamson finished the night with a team high 14 kills on a .333 attacking percentage, while Keough would tally 12 kills on a .632 attacking percentage with no errors.
These two, along with another host of Hornets, were set up by the phenomenal passing of Jania Leek as well. Leek ended tonight contest with a spectacular 38 assists, once again breaking a career high through three frames.
Ava Meinhardt and
Leah DiNardo were also crucial pieces on the Hornets defense, combining for five total blocks.
Lynchburg now improves to 11-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Nonetheless, the Hornets will have one of their toughest battles of the year in their next contest vs. Virginia Wesleyan on Oct. 9 in Turner Gymnasium.
