Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets are headed back to the ODAC semifinal after taking down Bridgewater, 1-0, in the quarterfinal.
Lynchburg got the party started early with a goal in the third minuet.
Leilianis Irigoyen earned the tally on a screamer across the box for her third goal of the year.
Bridgewater responded with constant offensive pressure as the game progressed, continually testing goalkeeper
Meredith Bowers. Of the eight shots taken by the Eagles, three of which were on goal, Bowers stood tall in front of everything that came her way.
Despite a plethora of great chances for Bridgewater on set pieces, highlighted by seven corner kicks, the Hornet defense refused to budge. For the tenth time this season, the Lynchburg defense posted a shutout to help secure the victory.
The Hornets will be back in action on Shellenbeger for the semifinal game at 3:30 pm on Thursday, Nov. 8, against the winner of #6 Shenandoah and #3 Virginia Wesleyan.
