Forest, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer sophomore
Chris Wiley scored the game-winning goal en rout to a 1-0 victory against Catholic, earning him Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
In the 81st minute of a scoreless affair,
Benjamin Velasquez tossed in a ball that landed on the head of Wiley in the box. After Wiley's nod bounced off a defender, he collected the rebound and struck it into the back corner of the net, giving the Hornets the lead for good.Â
Wiley earns ODAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career with the Hornets. His goal was the second he has scored in as many games as he also bagged one in the team's previous win against William Peace. The Forest, Va. native now has four total goals over his collegiate career in 17 games played.Â
Lynchburg's next outing will serve as the men's soccer team's Code Red game. The Hornets are set to host Roanoke on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m.
